Lezay is the closest town and an 8 minute drive away, you will find an Intermarche supermarket here which opens on a Sunday morning until 12.15pm. There are several banks with cash points, pharmacies and cosy cafés. Also the boloungerie is great for fresh baked baguettes and patisseries, chocolat crème eclairs have to be our favourite! For larger supermarkets and restaurants, Melle is worth a visit. Super U and Intermarche are open Monday – Saturday until 7.30pm and offer a vast range of regional specialities as well as everything you need for your grocery shopping. There are a number of restaurants in Melle including classic French dining, Italian and Vietnamese.

By Train
Eurotunnel is a very popular choice for many guests. Eurostar from London to Paris is a fabulous relaxing start to your holiday with speedy connections and a 2 hour TGV journey from Paris to Niort (40 minutes from Forest Gites). Car hire offices are often walking distance from the train stations.
Eurotunnel from Dover to Calais with your car is also an easy option with the crossing taking only 35 minutes.
By Car
We recommend using the motorways as they are generally quieter, well surfaced roads with few hold ups and plenty of service stations. There are tolls on some of them but it makes navigating very easy and less stressful travel. You can travel around our area without using tolls including to Poitiers, Niort and La Rochelle.
